What is Happening to us

Did you ever feel that you’re getting nowhere closer to your goal of living a good life of passion and purpose? Or that you’re drifting further away from that life? I’m not surprised. I know I found myself in that situation and statistically speaking, you probably are too, and here’s why.

In our TWENTIES:

We all enter the workforce with virtually the same levels of education. We don’t have a lot of responsibilities, and our revenue requirements are lower than our earning potential, leaving us with an abundance of resources that we call free time, creativity and energy. In other words, life is good.

Then as we enter our...

THIRTIES:

We are still competing with the same knowledge as everyone else in the arena. That’s a problem. Why? Because a small number of people are beginning to increase their value by engaging in continuing education; they are earning new certifications and attending specialized training.

That means the competition is slowly and almost surreptitiously beginning to elevate. At the same time, we start to see a pattern of increased responsibilities within our own lives as we have children, buy homes, finance cars, and start businesses. This increases our revenue requirements.

It is here that the cycle begins.

We react to the increased competition and revenue requirements by throwing our bodies at them: We work harder and longer; we begin sacrificing our coveted free time, creativity and energy. And so it begins.

Then as we move into our…

FORTIES:

We have an even larger uptick in our responsibilities—medical bills, property maintenance fees, and the expenses that come with unexpected or end-of-life events. This drives us to pursue much higher levels of revenue.

But now those higher levels of revenue exist alongside equally high levels of competition—what I call “superhuman” levels.

We have little choice but to respond by deploying what we’ve been trained to deploy: the rest of our free time and creativity, and whatever energy we have left in our tanks.

Welcome to the rat race: a grueling, lifelong sport that you probably don’t even remember signing up for. It’s no wonder that people in their forties are in a state of despair.

I can already hear what you’re saying: “I don’t have the time or money to do anything about this.”

You’re right. You probably don’t and…

It’s time we change that.

And that’s why you must learn how to increase your power in ways that don’t rob you of your time, money, energy and creativity. You need to learn how to radically progress in ways that actually increase your levels of time, money, energy and creativity as you go.

It’s time to adopt not only a new standard of performance, but an entirely new domain of performance. A domain of performance that allows you to lead a good life and lead others to do the same.

How?

You must become superhuman too.
